Juniper Ridge Community Association

Welcome

Welcome to the Juniper Ridge Community Association's website!

Our website is currently under construction as we get it established, but feel free to have a look around, and email Bea Moser if you have any comments or things to add.

History of the JRCA

The Juniper Ridge Community Association was originally formed in 1983 when local residents were concerned with the tussock moth destroying the fir trees in the area.  Long time resident Marion Farrar contacted the Ministry of Environment and asked for a permit to spray on Crown land.  With her husband and sons helping they printed up a letter and delivered it door to door asking for contributions for aerial spraying.  The response was extremely positive and volunteers collected money and gave out receipts.  In June 1983 the trees were sprayed, and survived.  The money was held in trust by the Juniper Ridge accountant ( still a resident) Dan Hazell.  The left over money eventually went to the playground equipment for the park.
That is the story of how it started, and decades later still maintains the ideas of uniting and sharing resources to make our neighborhood a better place. Annual fees are collected each year, which go into activities such as the fireworks on Halloween, and helping to co-ordinate the annual garage sale.

Thanks to Marion Farrar for supplying us with this information.  She also enclosed the original newspaper clipping which I will put in a section called Our Scrapbook.  If anyone else has pictures or articles about the area to add to the Scrapbook please forward them to us.
